Celebrate Anniversary Hanover February 16, 1977
Durham Couple Celebrate Golden Anniversary
Rex and Pauline Lawrence were honoured Sunday on their Fiftieth Wedding anniversary. Mr. Lawrence is a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Lawrence and Mrs. Lawrence is the former Pauline Noble ,a daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. William Noble , both of Bentinck Township. They farmed in Bentinck Township until moving to Durham in 1960. They were married in ;Durham on February 9, 1927, in a double wedding ceremony with the brides brother, the late Wesley Noble and Bertha Ritchie of Durham. The couple have one son Chester, and one daughter Edith,( Mrs. Ken Whitmore), both of Durham. They also have one grandson Lance Whitmore. Among the guests who gathered at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Ken Whitmore was the couples niece, Adele Schenk whose parents were part of the double wedding ceremony fifty years ago. Following a bountiful dinner at the Watr? Resort, everyone returned to the Whitmore home where the honored couple opened many beautiful gifts and cards of good wishes. At the close of the evening wedding cake and sherry was served by the daughter and daughter-in-law.

Dated Aug. 6, 1959 Friends Honor Couple on 25th Anniversary
Relatives, friends and neighbors feted Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Lawrence at Durham Town Hall, on the occasion of their 25th anniversary. Pink and white streamers and wedding bells were the decorations in the hall. James Langrill was the master of ceremonies, when an address was read by Mrs. Lawson Hopkins, and gifts were presented to the honored couple. They received a silver tea and coffe service from their three sons, Donald, Jack and Brian. A coffee perculator from relatives and a double dresser in walnut finish from the community. Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence both expressed thanks for the gifts. The evening was spent playing cards and dancing.

Tuesday September 12, 1954 Durham United Church Manse
Kenneth Newell Whitmore, son of Margaret Whitmore and the late Nassau Whitmore of Durham and his bride Edith Emma Lawrence, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Rex Lawrence of RR#1 Hanover, whose marriage took place in the United Church Manse at Durham recently. Miss Isabel Whitmore of Durham, sister of the groom was bridemaid, and Chester Lawrence of Egmondville, brother of the bride, was best man. The couple are residing in Durham.

Easter Bridal Ceremony in Durham Church 1960
Easter lilies were the decorations in Knox United Church, Durham, Saturday, April 16, when Alice Valerie Roseborough daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Harold Roseborough of Bentinck, became the bride of Howard Garland Lawrence , son of Mr. & Mrs. Howard Lawrence RR#2 Durham. The marriage was solemized by Rev. J.A.C. Kell. Miss Evelyn Watson was the orgainst and Mrs. Donald Lawrence sang the Wedding Prayer and Because. Attendents were Mrs. Ford Lutz of Niagra Falls , sister of the bride, Mrs. Donald Schuknecht ,sister of the groom. Mrs. Earl Mountain sister of the bride , Wendy Nelson of Detroit cousin of the groom was flower girl and Bradley Hopkins was ring-bearer. Ushers were Roger Goldsmith, George Roseborough , brother of the bride and Willaim Ledingham cousin of the groom. The couple will reside in Durham.
