obit Durham 1852 Joseph Lawrence of Holstein dies
Jan. 4 Following a lengthy illness, the death occured Tuesday at his home at Holstein of Joseph Lawrence. He was 78, a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. William Lawrence, he was born in Egremont township, and farmed there until 20 years ago when he retired. He has lived in Holstein the past six years. Mr. Lawrence was twice married. His first wife, the former Myrtle Hooper, passed away about twenty years ago. He later married Sarah Bailey of Egremont, who survives. Also surviving are two brothers, William of Holstein and Thomas of Buffalo, NY and three sisters, Mrs. Martha Ector of Indian Head, Sask: Mrs. W. J. (Kate) McFadden of Glenelg and Mrs. W.A. (Gladys) MacDonald of Durham. A brother and sister, John M. Lawrence of Durham and Mrs. Ellen Ector of Welland, predeceased him.

Mrs. McFadden Dies in her 89th year
A well known and highly respected district resident, Mrs. Catherine McFadden, died in Durham Memorial Hospital Friday in her 89th year. She had been a patient four weeks. Mrs. McFadden was born in Egremont twp., a daughter of the late Mr. &Mrs. William Lawrence. The family moved to the Glenelg twp. farm now owned by a son, Lawrence, when she was a girl. In 1892 Mrs. McFadden married William J. McFadden, of Glenelg, who died in 1937. She was a member of the United Church. Surviving are two sons, Lawrence of Glenelg, and Freeman of Merritton; two daughters, Ella, Mrs. George Whitmore of Glenelg, and Nina, Mrs. John Arnett of Hamilton; a sister Gladys, Mrs. W.A. McDonald of Durham; and two brothers, William of London and Thomas of Buffalo, NY

Mrs. W.A.Lawrence dies in Toronto
Dundalk- A native of Egremont twp. Mrs. William A. Lawrence, died on Monday at Toronto, where she had lived for the past 15 years. Mrs. Lawrence was in her 75th year. Mrs. Lawrence was the former Mabel Ann Hooper, and was born near Wilder's Lake, living in that district most of her life. She was a member of Dromore Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Lawrence is survived by her husband of London, two daughters, Eva, Mrs. Percy Laxton of Toronto, and Gertie, Mrs. Alex Henderson of Dundalk; and two brothers, Abraham and George, both of Egremont.
In Toronto on Monday, July 18, 1955, Mabel Ann Hooper, wife of William A. Lawrence. Mother of Gertie, Mrs. A. Henderson of Durham, and Eva, Mrs. P. Laxton of Toronto, sister of Abraham and George Hooper, both of Egremont twp. Resting at the McMillan Funeral home, Dundalk, for funeral service on Wednesday, July 20, 2:30 pm. Internment in Amos, Dromore Cemetery
