Note for:   Marcial Toledo,   ABT 1725 -          Index

Individual Note:
Turns out that Marcial Toledo is also an ancestor of the wife of Carlos Joaquin, the historian of Trinidad, alive but quite old as of this writing (2005). His research indicated that "Marcial de Toledo" came to Trinidad from Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, and was the son of Marcos de Toledo and Lucia Rodriguez.
-------------------------------------------
Research note: The marriage to Tomasa Andres is recorded in Trinidad (Santissimo) in libro #4 (matrimonios), folio 237, vuelto. However, this book is not available for inspection as all the pages are stuck together. Carlos Joaquin had recorded every entry some 30 years ago (in the 1970's) and it is from his transcribed records at home that the marriage date was established. There is also some connection between this marriage and the town of Sancti Spiritu where Carlos says Marcial Toledo first went when he arrived in Cuba.

In a write up given to me some weeks ago on Lots 60 and 61 Con. 3, West Garafraxa Rd. Just south of Hutton Hill . In 1849 John Edge purchased Lot 61 from the crown for 840 pounds and in 1866 it was soldby Sarah Jane Edge for $800.00 to Thomas Hutton. In 1867 Thomas Hutton gave his daughter Hannah Langrill the east 50 acres and his son George the west 50 acres. That same year George sold his land to his brother-in-law William Langrill, and it was a complete 100 acres once again. In the early 1900's Samuel Langrill bought the farm from his father's estate.
