From The Strathroy Age, Thursday, June 16th, 1881

"THE FASHIONABLE WEDDING ON Tuesday was a social event of more than usual interest. The contracting parties were Mr R. Brough, city Engineer, of Toronto, and Miss Mary Donell, daughter of Mr Wm. S. Donell, of New Orleans, U.S. The ceremony was performed in St Johns Church, by the Rev. A. C. Hill, at 10 O'clock a.m. , in the presence of a large gathering, comprising the ELITE of the town. The bridesmaids were Miss L. Smythe, Miss L. Marshall, and Miss Burwell, of London, and the groomsmen, Messrs. Brough, two brothers of the bridegroom. The wedding trousseau was of the richest description. Immediately after the ceremony the party, with a number of invited guests, partook of a wedding breakfast at the residence of the brides' brother-in-law, Col. John English. This part of the arrangement was under the superintendance of Mr. G.M. Francis, and Mr. R. McGowan, who acquitted themselves very successfully, the cuisine being more than usually rich and elegant. The happy couple left on an extended wedding tour, driving to Mt. Brydges to catch the eastbound train."

You will be interested - as will be Mary - in a sampler I have which Cousin Laura gave me. It was made by one, Eliza Jane English, "aged 10 years, Ekfrid". The poor little thing never finished out all the squares - so it is not complete. Shame on her. I suppose she was Aung [sic] Minnie's sister "Lizzie" who I think was the mother of Cousins Laura, Annie and Edwin Marshall. Their mother died, and father married again-and produced another family of half-brothers and sisters for Laura, Annie and Edwin Marshall.

death and age info from the Strathroy Age newspaper, Feb 26, 1875. Her birth year calculation makes her a likely twin of her brother James
