James Blackburn Jnr & Mary Chrisp were married on 3 Feb 1855 at Burrumbeep, south of Ararat by Reverend James Aaron Clowes, minister of St Mark's Fitzroy who came up from Melbourne for the occasion.
Notes from John Ritchie's files:
Mary (Chrisp) died at Darling st. Sth Yarra on 13th June, 1867 aged 36 years. She was buried on 16th June, at St.Kilda cemetery. On 12.04.1870 James married Elizabeth Jane Lorey c1848/50 - 29.05.1882. There were no children of the marriage.
The children of James and Mary were probably cared for by Jessie McDonald and John George Chrisp, because Eleanor's only daughter Jessie was named after a favourite aunt of Eleanor's. James died 15th August, 1888.
James Blackburn's business address in 1851 was:
Blackburn & Newson, architects, 32 Collins-street, west.
His address when he died was: Standard Hotel, Fitzroy.
