Occupation:
Place:   Rector of Saunderton, Bucks, England

Individual Note:
     Tony --

I believe your Richard Nicholas Goldesbrough b. ca. 1770 is in fact the following man. Likewise, his father was born closer to 1720.

Children of Rev. John Goldesbrough & wife, née Ann Adams

1. John ................................. bapt. 21 Jan 1744/45, bur. 28 Oct 1822
2. Thomas ............................ bapt. 18 Feb 1746/47, bur. 24 Dec 1828
3. Henry ............................... bapt. 16 July 1749, died 1775
4. Richard Nicholas .............. bapt. 25 Apr 1751
5. William Austin................... bapt. 14 June 1753, died 1809
6. Edward............................. bapt. 19 Aug 1755, died 11 Sep 1818

These six sons are named in the will of Rev. John Goldesbrough (will: 27 Oct 1767, proved 26 May 1769) Prerogative Court of Canterbury (UK/TNA/PRO, PROB 11/948)

Incidently, John Dampier is on of the trustees named in the will of Rev John Goldesbrough. (ibid.)

My interest is historical. Thomas Goldesbrough served as a Midshipman, Lieutenant, and Master & Commander during the American War of Independence. He was taken a POW in 1780 when the transport ship on which he was a passenger was captured by the Americans. He retired as a Rear Admiral, Royal Navy.

Bob Brooks (rcbrooks@@pivot.net), retired on the downeast coast of Maine USA

Dates were changed Larry Dampier's estimates to accomodate Bob Brook's research which seems more accurate. Brothers were added as well.
